Maurizio Lisciandra is currently an assistant professor in Economics at the Political Science Department of the University of Messina. He graduated with honour in Economics (1998) at the Università Commerciale "Luigi Bocconi" where he was awarded a scholarship for outstanding merit. In 1997 he attended economics courses at Brandeis University (Ma-USA). He obtained an M.Phil. in Economics (2000) followed by a Ph.D. in Economics (2005) from Cambridge University (Trinity College, UK). He worked as a researcher at LEST-CNRS in Aix-en-Provence (France), at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain) and at the International Labour Organisation (ILO-Geneva-Switzeland), where he was appointed as expert in 2005. In recent years he worked as a consultant for the Region of Sicily, the Italian Ministry of the Interior, the Fondazione Chinnici and as lecturer/researcher at the Universities of Palermo and Bologna. His research interests are economics of crime, crime costing, law and economics, and psychological economics.
